VIRTUAL MIAMI ORLANDO

Initiatives

Universidad Politécnica de Puerto Rico (UPPR) will recruit bilingual Hispanic middle and high school STEM and non-STEM teachers to participate in a face-to-face cybersecurity camp. Teachers will be working in public and private schools and will commute from rural and urban sectors of Puerto Rico to participate at no cost in the events.

A specific workshop sequence, Your Lesson Plan Idea, includes the: brainstorm / initiate / finalize / archive / present (BIFAP methodology). Camp facilitators will assist the teachers in the creation of reliable lesson plans that will be ready to use by the teachers during the school academic year. As a result of the camp activities, teachers will develop multiple lesson plans focused on the 6 GenCyber Cybersecurity concepts.

Universidad Politécnica de Puerto Rico (UPPR) will recruit bilingual Hispanic girls from public and private middle schools in Puerto Rico commuting from rural or urban sectors to attend cybersecurity activities – beginner’s level.

The participants are bilingual (English/Spanish) Hispanic girls studying in either public or private schools in Puerto Rico who have completed 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade.

The activities include the topic of safe online behavior and good digital citizenship. Activities are based on current trends and events. Through the analysis and discussion of cybersecurity topics embedded in these scenarios, the girls will make a clear connection between real-life situations and the importance of cybersecurity in our lives.

All activities are free of charge.
