Message From The Dean

Welcome to the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico Graduate School web page! The Institution started offering graduate studies in 1992 with a degree of Master in Engineering Management. With a highly qualified Graduate Faculty the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, the major Engineering Private Hispanic Institution in the United States, offers 12 programs leading to a variety of master’s degrees. Enrollment at the Graduate School exceeds 700 active students per academic term. At Polytechnic University, our agile institutional culture and professional approach for student services provide the advantage of offering programs that respond to the needs of Puerto Rico by becoming partners of students seeking professional and academic development at the same time. This approach ensures adequate preparation for the global economy that our country imposes on our future professional leaders. The Graduate School Deanship integrates the services of all graduate programs offered to our students. The Graduate School consists of both administrative and academic units. These include the Deanship Office, Office of Graduate Affairs, the Graduate Programs Coordinators Team and the International Academic Alliances. The Graduate School unit reports to the office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Graduate School plays an essential role promoting quality instructional programs and has the objective of developing state-of-the-art research. Our students pursue their degrees in the fields of Engineering, Management, Geospatial Technology and Landscape Architecture. The Engineering Graduate Programs include 7 different areas leading to master’s degrees. The degrees are awarded in the areas of Civil, Electrical, Computer, Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Manufacturing Competitiveness. The Management School has different programs leading to master’s degrees. The degrees are awarded in the areas of Business Administration, Environmental Management and Engineering Management. The Master in Geospatial Science and Technology is the newest graduate degree which started in the academic year 2012 – 2013. Finally, the Landscape Architecture School offers a Master degree in Landscape Architecture. The Graduate School’s web pages provide you detailed information regarding its high quality programs, as well as information on their facilities. Also available are telephones, e-mail directory of the Graduate Programs Coordinators and important academic information that will facilitate your planning. Graduate School Deanship

The Graduate School Deanship is an academic unit that is part of the Vice-Presidency for Academic Affairs. The main functions of the deanship are to establish and supervise the policies regarding the graduate studies at the Institution, to monitor the compliance with the graduate studies policies and, to provide all the administrative services to the graduate students through the Office of Graduate Affairs. Besides, the Deanship of the Graduate School offers extracurricular activities and programs to complement graduate studies

Graduate School Assistantships and Awards Program

The Graduate School receives, evaluates and processes the requests for the assistantships and awards program for the graduate students. This program includes opportunities as research assistants, teaching assistants and special recognitions for talented research, among others. Graduate School Thesis / Design Project Information

Some master degrees require as part of the program curriculum, to complete a design project or a thesis. The Graduate School offers specific services to support the graduate student in the format development and editing of either of these documents. Besides, the Graduate School personnel offer trainings regarding the documents format.

Office of Graduate Affairs

The Office of Graduate Affairs offers admission, registration, collection and student financial aid guidance services.

This office is an administrative unit within the Graduate School Deanship. The Deanship is responsible for the facilitation of graduate studies at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. It is the responsibility of the Graduate Affairs Office to see that all pertinent administrative regulations are followed and that proper guidance relative to this topic is provided to all the academic units that offer graduate programs.

For easy access, the Office is located in Alhambra Street #51. Office hours are: Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00am to 7:30pm, Fridays from 8:00am to 12:00 noon and from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, and Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00 noon and from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. These office hours satisfy the needs of our evening, and Saturday students.

Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), located in Olathe, Kansas. The business programs in the following degrees are accredited by the IACBE: Master of Business Administration Master in Engineering Management Master in Environmental Management

In April, 2006 IACBE accredited the School of Management.
