Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico is committed to the comprehensive development of its students and creates an adequate academic environment that improves their quality of life and fosters student’s interests. To reach these objectives, PUPR considers that the students’ academic life should be complemented by a wide range of activities.
The Vice Presidency of Enrollment Management and Student Services is the administrative unit in charge of the development of academic life. This Vice Presidency serves as link between the offices of Admissions and Promotions, Financial Aid Office, Guidance and Counseling Office, Athletic Activities, Students Center, Cooperative Education Program, Alumni, Student Council, Student Organizations, Social and Extracurricular Activities.
The Vice Presidency of Enrollment Management and Student Services established in 2004, is the administrative unit in charge of the development or academic life. This Vice Presidency serves as link between the office of Admissions and Promotions, Financial Aid office, Guidance and Counseling Office, Athletic Activities, Students Center, Career and Internship Services Program, Student Council, Student Organizations, and Social Activities.
The Office has a Vice President, an Associate Vice President, a Secretary and a Student Success Specialist. It is located at the Main Building, First Floor – Interior Garden. Service hours are from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, and Friday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.

University Choir
The University Choir is vocal ensemble in which any student or employee can participate after being qualified by an audition. The Choir performs using four types of voices: Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. The repertoire is mostly performed “a capella” (without accompaniment) and sometimes with instrumentation. Through the whole year the Choir participates in cultural activities inside and outside the Institution, providing services to the community, local public schools and non-profit organizations. The Choir’s repertoire highlights Puerto Rican and Latino American choral music. The student who requests and is admitted to the Choir receives exemptions in enrollment costs.
Theatre Workshop
The Theatre Workshop of Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico started in 2000 as an activity to let students know more about the world of performance and learn to appreciate this form of art. It began solely as a summer workshop and has turned into a permanent workshop at the Institution due to the participant’s professionalism. Since its inceptions, Prof. Hector Mendez, Theatre Director, has been in charge of the Workshop.
The Workshop started with only five students, at present it is composed of more than 15 students; some have already graduated from the University. Among the most distinguished students are: Joan Hernandez who enter the group in 2004 and have already acted in films by Vicente Castro and performs in professional theatre performances. Pedro Hornedo works at Channel 52 for the soap opera: “Mis años en la High,” and has also participated in professional theatre performances.
There have been several plays performed by the Polytechnic University Theatre Workshop. The following are among the most memorable plays: “La dinga y mandiga de Catalino” (explores the peer pressure theme,) “Ay bendito que Puerto Rico,” “Buenas noches, mamá,” “Impromptu,” “Quitatetú,” “El hombre que se convirtió en perro,” “Escenas de Herejes,” “Historia de un Flemón,” “Quíntuples,” and “Amor al Prójimo,” a social satirical comedy.
Students at Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico have the right to establish and promote students organizations. All organizations should have as main purpose the promotion of tolerance to assure that student participation within the institution always conforms to respect and order.
