Eng. José O. Rivera-Rivera is, since July 2005, the current Dean of the School of Management at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (PUPR). The School of Management serves around 700 students in three campuses in San Juan, Puerto Rico, as well as in Miami and Orlando, Florida. Rivera supervises over 30 full-time and part-time faculty members and has played a key role in developing the SOM by creating an industry advisory board, and in leading faculty efforts to develop a new Strategic Plan and Outcomes Assessment processes for the School.
Before assuming the Deanship at PUPR, Rivera served as Coordinator of the Graduate Program for the Industrial Engineering Department from 2002-2005, and as an adjunct faculty member teaching the following courses: Financial and Cost Accounting , Probability, Statistics, Project Management and Material Management and Inventory Control.
Eng. Rivera is a native of Comerio, Puerto Rico. He is a member of the Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico
(CIAPR) where he serves as Treasurer of the Instituto de Ingenieros Industriales (III). Rivera has been for the last 3 years the advisor of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
(SHPE). He has a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the Florida Institute of Technology (1998). He is also completing his PhD at the University of Central Florida. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus (1993). |
