Among the many services offered in our University, one of them is the Program of Educational Services. This Program offers tutoring on Spanish, Math, Physics, English, Computers and other Engineering courses, as well as academic, vocational and personal counseling, among other services.

Among the many services offered in our University, one of them is the Program of Educational Services. This Program offers tutoring on Spanish, Math, Physics, English, and Computers, as well as academic, vocational and personal counseling, among other services.

At the beginning of your academic career, you will find that our faculty and specialized personnel will always be willing to help you. dispuesto a ofrecerte su ayuda. Do not hesitate to ask when you deem it necessary. The best way for us to know your needs and concerns is for you to tell us. The experiences you acquire at PUPR will be the beginning of a successful career. Make the most of the opportunities we offer you, and you will be successful in your studies and in life.

About the Program

The Program of Educational Services of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico was established on November 1984. Since then, we have had categorical success in student retention. This program is supported by federal funds from the US Departmen of Education in Washington. It is appointed to the Caribbean Program Association (Asociación Caribeña de Programas TRIO), which gathers federally funded educational programs from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. We currently service 230 students.

Our main goal is to provide help in the subjects of Spanish, Math, English, Physics and Copmuters, to help you develop the intellectual potential necessary to complete your university courses. We also foster integral grouth through personal, vocational and academic counseling and guidance.

As part of co-curricular activities, we invite you to join our Program and take part in socio-cultural activities, such as conferences on various topics, museum visits, music concerts, theatre plays, and trips to historically and culturally relevant locations.

We also promote activities that help you develop your creative talents and skills. Our purpose is to help you make the most of the services offered by PUPR in our determination to educate and train the generation of tomorrow. All of our services are free of cost.

Main Goal

To increase the retention and graduation rates of participating students and help them transition after graduation.

Specific Objectives

Graduation Rate

30% of new students will obtain a Bachelor’s degree in 6 years.

Persistence Rate

85% of serviced students will remain enrolled next academic year and/or will graduate or transfer to a 4-year institution.

Good Academic Standing

85% of services students will comply with institutional academic performance standards or GPA.

Criteria for Eligibility

Students who wish to profit from the Program services must be American citizens or be permanent residents in the US, prove academic necessity, and fulfill one or more of the following criteria for eligibility:

  • Limited income
  • Any type of disability (needs to submit medical certificate)
  • Parents did not complete a Bachelor’s degree

Services

Guidance

We offer you personal, vocational and academic guidance and counseling services, individually or in groups. Personal guidance and counseling helps students successfully adjust to university life. It fosters integral growth and development for students. It also offers an opportunity to explore your vocational interests, which will help you choose a professional carreer according to your personal goals and motivations. Group sessions focus on group interaction and interpersonal relationships.

Seminars

We offer you seminars on topics such as studying skills, how to prepare for an exam, and other subjects of interest. Our purpose is to develop in you a positive attitude towards university studies through learning and studying skills.

Academic Counseling

You will be offered opportunities and academic alternatives to promote your learning process. Academic counselors organize and coordinate the tutorial program, a service we offer students to individualize and personalize the teaching process.

Group and Individual Tutorials

In tune with modern pedagogical trends, the tutorials offered by the Program have a simultaneously group and individual focus. To this end, we use computer training and audiovisual resources for the teaching-learning process.

Socio-cultural Activities

You will have the opportunity to take part in various activities that will foster your socio-cultural development, such as conferences on various topics, visits to a variety of museums, theatre plays, spelling bee contests, math tournaments, and educational trips to historically and culturally relevant locations.

Summer Workshop

During summer, we offer a workshop for potential Program candidates. The purpose is to acquaint them with the institution facilities and help them adapt to university life.

Vocational Activities

You will have the opportunity to visit different industries to see the theory you’re learning put into practice. There are also many workshops and lectures about the profession and its challenges, and the search for employment.
