In a continuing effort to provide educational opportunities consistent with the ability of the individual student, The Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico enrolls in the Honor Program all undergraduate students registered at the institution with a GPA of 3.25 or higher. The program is designed to provide ample opportunities and high motivation to specially gifted students. It provides an assortment of special activities aimed to developing abilities, attitudes and enthusiasm in assuming leadership position in the teaching learning process.
The Honor Program may provide individual learning opportunities in place of some conventional course work, independent study and research and the possibility of entering the combined bachelor’s and master’s degree program. It's mission is to provide a dynamic intellectual environment for honor students through counseling and multiple activities. It will also promotes an active interaction of the honor students with other students which is mutually beneficial.
Special opportunities and privileges are provided to assist in the attainment of the primary goal which the Honor Program is established:
Priority system for class registration.
Privilege to extend the book loans in the library.
Active participation in technical and cultural activities.
Financial aid (scholarships).
Opportunities for employment (part-time).
Ten percent discount in the acquisition of books.
Membership in the National Honor Society and other honorary societies.
Others.
