Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (P.U.P.R.) is a private, not-for-profit, coeducational, nonsectarian institution founded in 1966, offered the technical courses only in Land Surveying and Mapping until 1974, when PUPR became a degree granting institution offering baccalaureate degrees in Land Surveying and Mapping (B.S.L.S.) and Civil Engineering (B.S.C.E.). In 1980 a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering was offered followed by a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (1984), Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (1987), and Bachelor in Business Administration with a major in Industrial Management (1990).
In 2002 was offered a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science followed in 2003 by a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.
In 1992, the institution started a graduate program offering a Master's Degree in Engineering Management. In 1995, a Bachelor in Architecture program was initiated followed by a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering in 1997. In 1998, other Master’s degree Programs were implemented. Those were in Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Environmental Management, Civil Engineering, and in Manufacturing Competitiveness.
In 2004 was offered a Master degree in Computer Engineering and in 2005 in Computer Science.
