PUPR CUSPS students receive recognition at AGMUS Research Symposium
Students from the CUSPS (Caribbean Undergraduate Students in Plasma Science) group from Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico participated in the 2013 AGMUS Symposium last Saturday, along with students from Georgia Tech, University of California Irvine, Ohio State University, University of North Carolina, University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez, Universidad Metropolitana de Puerto Rico, Universidad del Turabo, and others.
The student Edwin De La Rosa (EE) obtained a medal for being among the top five presentations out of the 78 at the Symposium, with his work “Plasma Electron Temperature Behavior in Mirror and Cusp Magnetic Field Configurations”. It is worth to point out that this was the very first time Mr. De La Rosa ever performed an oral scientific presentation. Also, the students Carola Cruz and Carlos Diaz also obtained medals for being among the top 20 poster presentations out of the 153 in the Symposium, with their works “Manufacturability Assessment of Canned-Rotor Pump” and ‘Study of Electron Plasma Density Anisotropy for Cusp ECR Plasma” respectively.
