April 30, 2007.
To: ISPE-PUPR Members, Faculty Advisors, Industry Advisors and students of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico.
Dear friends:
By this letter I want to establish my most profound gratefulness of the extraordinary effort made by the working team of ISPE-PUPR during Saturday, April 28, 2007, in the Student Leadership Forum, prepared with the collaboration of the ISPE-PR professional chapter and the student chapters from Mayaguez and the Interamerican University of Bayamón. During the afternoon of Friday, April 27, 2007, a lot of our members were present to collaborate in the different tasks, previous to the activity. I want to personally thank Marien Lugo, Karla Rentas, Frances Rivera, Cinthia Carrasquillo, Luis Montañez, Daniel Díaz, Beatríz Paulino, Vicmary Vázquez and Carlos Martínez for all the great work made before the activity. Saturday, during the whole activity, the executive board of the ISPE-PUPR student chapter brought their 150%, from the registration to the room cleaning. These actions prove the real commitment that we have for the organization and for the chapter’s success. We are all extremely happy, grateful and amazed with the achievements reached in so short time and, believe me, without you as working team, none of these will be happening or real.
With, approximately, 100 attendees we were able to have an awesome success, not only because of the vast number of participants but for the quality of information offered during the conferences. Industries like Paciv, Kelly Engineering, Man Power, Wyeth, Getinge USA, etc. gave us their support and knowledge in themes like: What the recruiters look for these days?, Resume writing, Leadership Skills and Professional Appearance. Also, many of them had the opportunity to recruit students for possible and future positions in their corporations. Thanks to this, students from all engineering fields and business administration were able to “sell themselves”.
Another great surprise occurred when ISPE-PR announced that the first place winner of the poster competition was the student Héctor Londoño, from the Industrial Engineering Department of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, one of ours! Héctor will have the honor of representing Puerto Rico and the Polytechnic University in the ISPE Annual Meeting that will be held from November 4 to 7, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada in the Caesars Palace Hotel. As the first place winner, ISPE will pay all traveling and registration expenses for the activity.
With this distinction, without a doubt, we are proving the quality of students from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. By distinguishing ourselves the way we are doing, professionals worldwide are becoming available to support us in different ways. This deserves a round of applause.
I would not want to finish without mentioning the grateful I am of working with and for you. As president of the chapter, I feel extremely proud of the extraordinary achievements that our students are reaching thanks to the opportunities ISPE-PUPR is bringing. The team is committed to keep working really hard so that our members can receive the necessary skills for their personal and professional development. New things are on their way so, don’t loose touch.
Finally, I want to also thank Prof. Maritza Grajales and the library personnel, Mr. Edgardo Meléndez, manager of Cafetería Mi Casa, Prof. Cuautémoc Godoy, Dean of the School of Engineering, Prof. Luis A. Olivares, Head of the Industrial Engineering Department, Ms. Angie Escalante, Head of the COOP Program and all the personnel that contributed in the Student Leadership Forum’s success. Thanks to Prof. Ernesto Vázquez Barquet, President of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, for his presence in the activity. We are grateful of your support.
To all of you, a hug.
Thanks for believing in me.
