The library is located in a three story building In the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico campus. It has an area of approximately 40,000 square feet and a seating capacity for 400 students. The Library collection consists of over 65,000 volumes classified according to the Library’s of Congress Classification System. Our Library’s collection specialize in land surveying, engineering, architecture and business administration. At the present time, the library subscribes to over 2,000 periodicals and publications, both general and technical. The Library is fully automated in services and administrative procedures. As part of its services, the Library offers access to a local Area CD Rom Network, Internet, and other data base services; also, interlibrary loans are used to gain access to resources not owned by the Library. The Library has a staff of fifty employees, including professional librarians, education technologists, assistant librarians, clerks, and student assistants. To help students develop information skills and become independent users and researchers, the Library has a literacy skills program.
The Audiovisual Department houses the audiovisual resources collection, maps and equipment to provide information and learning resources in non print format which circulated among students and faculty. It has a TV Studio for video productions and satellite videoconference, and offers services of photography, graphic arts and others. The Library’s schedule accommodate our faculty and students’ needs seven days a week.
