Description

The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Science and Mathematics Education of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico prepares students to teach at the 7th to 12th grade level at public and private schools, within a variety of urban and suburban environments. The program provides the opportunity to combine pedagogic theory and principles with experience on the field, in line with the areas of interest. These combined experiences, aligned with the new tendencies in the field of education, will prepare highly qualified professionals.

The Department of Education at PUPR strives to develop specialists in the field of education who will be active teachers and students for life and highly efficient and dedicated educators.

The mission of the Department of Education of PUPR is to serve society by preparing professionals in education who will be subject specialists with the necessary social disposition, culture, human sensibility, ethical values, skills, and knowledge to be highly efficient teachers.

Objective

To satisfy the demand for certified teachers who are highly qualified in Science and Mathematics for the private and public education sectors in Puerto Rico.

Admission Criteria

Incoming students must have an admission index of 2.45 at least.

Faculty

The faculty is adequately prepared in the fields of specialization and education.

Laboratories and Equipment

PUPR has Physics and Chemistry laboratories, a computer center, and a laboratory classroom prepared for education methodologies.

The Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
